What do you think of going in the mountains accompanied by a Catalan donkey, that carries the fruit and water? The walk at the Ports around Xerta becomes a very interesting experience wenh you share it with this animal. Rising up from the New Source to the Moleta you will enjoy of some incredible panoramic views; and if you're lucky you can even stumble upon the goats that descend to drink at the source.

At the riding center Equinatur in Xerta, depending of the hostel Assut adults and children can enjoy horses and donkeys in all tranquility. This is so, because Carlos tames the horses in a natural way (as the Indian tribes in Argentina do). The effect of this different way of taming is big. The horses are calmer, they feel safer and therefore they do not become frightened easily. Therefore Equinatur is a suitable environment for hipotherapies or to ride a horse for the first time. You’ll also find a play yard surrounded with animals like hens, goats, Catalan donkeys, pigs and an ox.

And if you prefer another means of transportation to explore the surroundings, you can rent a bike at Equinatur and take the Via Verde starting at the Old station of Xerta. 

A place to enjoy nature, animals and landscapes on foot, horseback or mountain bike.

Horse riding (1-2h): 18 € / person; Ponies: 10 €. Hiking with donkey: 150 € / group. Pack lunch, bike rental and transportation: 30 €.

Lunch tips:

You can lunch at the Hostel Assut in Xerta from 13:00 to 15:00. (Price: 10€ weekdays / weekends and holidays from 15 to 17 €).

Both the hostel as the horse center are fully adapted for people with disabilities.

Hiking with a donkey to  the Moleta: 5.6 km distance, duration: 4h; level: 900m; recommended age: from 7 years onwards.
