What's the story:

If you want to survive Reus local festivity, it will be good to take with you some plugs to attenuate the striking succession of explosions at Mercadal Square which indicate the great moments of the party: on the day of the opening speech, the eve of the day of the Saint and Saint Peter’s day, at noon and in the afternoon. During some instants the square submerges in a mixture of deafening noise and smoke: the traditional thunderstorm!

The thunderstorm started to be held, according to the local chroniclers, during the second half of the 17th century and has its origins in the habit of shooting with firearms -rifles or cannons- to solemnize important moments of the celebration.

If you prefer to avoid the thunderstorms, you can enjoy of the  impressive escorts with the Àliga, the Dragon, the Children, the Mulassa, the Giants and the Carrasclet.
