What's the story:
If you do not have the secret yet for preoparing great calçots or a good sauce, go to Valls during the celebration of the Calçotada. Between the demonstrations of cooking calçots, perhaps you bump into some relative of the farmer Benaiges, that at the end of the 19th century started in Valls to cook on the ember the tender onions. Perhaps they will give you some advice. And, if not, you will always be able to taste them right there, with the sauce, some bread, the toasted hazelnuts and the wine of Valls, and then give your opinion.
But before doing so, go and have a look at the great parade with the giant of the Calçot of Valls as a protagonist. Accompanied by the shawm players, mulasses, giants and framer carriages they will impregnate the city with a very festive atmosphere.
And for those who want to see how many calçots a person is capable of eating in a limited time, do not lose the traditional competition of calçots eating.
A mass celebration to discover the calçot thoroughly!

In Valls you can taste the calçots. At the Alls, Garrofes and Zeta squares you can find tables for tasting the calçots. And those who want, will be able to prepare meta and sausage of Valls.
