Tradition: The rice harvest in Deltebre
Local celebrations and traditions

Deltebre, Baix Ebre
Suitable age:
From 6 onwards
What's the story:
What do you think of rolling up your pants, and start harvesting rice by hand and a sickle like our parents and grandparents did years ago? Do not worry, in Deltebre a group of expert harvesters will teach you how to cut the sheaves. And for those who prefer to watch from a certain distance, try not losing detail on how the wheat is separated from chaff with the help of horses. Then it is dried and put in a sack.
Afterwards you can pay a visit to a rice mill which still operates as before.
Lots of activities to discover the work that had to be done before you one could eat some rice!
