Torredembarra, Tarragonès

Suitable age:

From 3 onwards

By bikeOn foot

About the place:

If you believe that Torredembarra only has a beach, you have to follow this route to change your mind. In less than ten minutes from the city centre, we find a typically Mediterranean landscape with stones, old carob and olive trees. At the distance you can see the see. On the background, the Mola pike. And on the ground a lot of black balls.  Who is responsible? The mystery will not be solved until completely at the end of the itinerary. Beside a wind mill we will find a farmyard of goats. If we are lucky, we will be able to cross them along the way.

This itinerary is ideal to do by bike. It will take you about half an hour. Most part of the path has been paved, even though it is semi restricted for cars (only the local farmers use it) and, therefore, quite safe to go with little children. If you prefer to make the route on foot, it you will take you about one hour.

Direction tips:

The Torredembarra IES (Avda. Sant Jordi, 62-64.) is the starting point. The car can be parked easily here. Just in front of the school you’ll find the orientation panel with the map of the route.  A few meters straight on, we find the first wooden milestone and we enter into the itinerary for by the Caus path. We continue this path until we find the second panel. It is from this point that the itinerary starts to be attractive, since we penetrate more into the rural part of the city.

Following the old path and surrounded of magnificent stone walls, we will arrive to a crossroads of ways. We will take the left path and continue straight between fields until arriving near the highway. Exactly at this point we will go left locating the different milestones that guide us by the route. At this part of the route we will see some typical local rocky formations. You’ll also see a little stone house that served as shelter for the farmers and also is used to keep the utensils. It is at this point that we arrive to farmyard with the goats.

The itinerary finishes with a soft slope among farmhouses and carob trees, coming out again to the old path where we started. Here we turn right and arrive again at the starting point.
