About the place:

If you like mountain biking along the fields, you’ll surly appreciate the itinerary towards the Source of the Conill (Rabbit) in Cabra del Camp. Between spring and summer you will be able to enjoy of the color changes: who the green wheat fealds become gold; and between the wheat fields, vineyards and pine forests.

A rural itinerary with a nice stop under the weeping willow near the Conill Source. (See photos)

Direction tips:

The itinerary at the Source of Sant Crist in Cabra del Camp. To arrive here you have to take the TV2311 between Pla de Santa Maria and Sarral. You will find a deviation towards Cabra del Camp between km 3 and 4 (km 3,3). It will take you straight to the area of the Sant Crist Source. If you’ll do the itinerary by bike, you can leave the car here. If you are traveling with young children or you prefer just to walk a short part, we recommend you to leave the car 2,7 km further on.

Both if cycle and go by car, you have to take the paved path with a wooden handrail that goes towards the mountain from the Sant Crist area.  Coming from the TV2311 is the first path to the right.  About 500 meters further you’ll find a bifurcation. Turn to the left following the indications towards Cabra del Camp. At the end of the way (300 m), you have to turn towards the right to take the GR7 in direction Coll de Sàrria and Vallespinosa. At 100 m the paved path will come to its end. Follow the path on your right. 100 m further the path branches. You have to take the one that rises to the left, leaving the houses on your right. At 100 m there is another bifurcation. Take the path that goes down following the sign towards Sàrria.  About 800 meters and once you have passed an olive tree field,   you will arrive again to a deviation. Take the one that rises to the left. A little further you will find a fork with the wooden indicators. If you have come by car, leave the car on your right side next to the ruins of a house, just after the deviation.

At the bifurcation take the path to the left that rises to the Solivella well. Continue the path straight on, until arriving to a new signpost which indicates the way to the left to the Conill Source. You have to follow the track until a detour where you will see a pond on your right side. Behind the pond you will find the Conill Source with a small zone where you can rest under the weeping willow. You’ll find a table, benches and a barbecue. To return to the start point, you have to undo the path.

The best season:

summer, spring

Lunch tips:

In the area around the Conill source, there is a table (without chairs), some benches and a barbecue (it is prohibited to make fire in the summer). In Cabra del Camp you will find a very nice leisure area next to the Gall Source. You’ll find barbecues, tables with benches under weeping willows. If you cross the street, you will find a zone with a playpen. (C/ Teuleria, GPS: 41.394238,1.274773).

If you prefer a restaurant, you’ll find a nice one with a playpen at 7km in the Pla de Santa Maria, the Masia del Pla.

More info:

Difficulty: BTT: average; part by foot: low
Type: linear route
Duration: BTT: aprox. 2 hr (without stops, two ways); stretch on foot: 1h30 min (two ways)
Distance: BTT: aprox. 7 km (2 ways); stretch on foot: aprox. 2 km
Accessibility: The path is uneven.  There are paved stretches and stretches of sand. You can do part of the itinerary by car (about 2,7 km), even thought the path is quite bumpy.  If you want to cycle, use a mountain bike, since the terrain is quite rough.
Recommendations: although summertime is the nicest moment to enjoy of the colors of the field, there is not that much shadow, so we recommend following the itinerary very early in the morning or in the late afternoon.  Use insect repellent, since depending on the period of the year you can find a lot of flies.
