If you like routes that include a little physical effort combined with water sports, you will enjoy the itinerary from Miravet to Benifallet in canoe.

Surrounded by the mountains of Cardó and the saws of Cavalls and Pàndols, you will go down stream while the birds peck near you. When leaving Miravet you will enjoy of a spectacular view over the Templar castle of Miravet. And halfway you will find the Rock of the Hanged, where in the Middle Ages convicted thieves where hanged as a warning for travelers. Before arriving to Benifallet do not doubt on going around the Cataula Island. The vegetation will make you feel like in a film.

Direction tips:

The starting point is the Pas de Barca of Miravet. You will arrive to the Pas de Barca by the C12 Móra d'Ebre - Tortosa. Approximately at 1 km of Ginestar in direction Miravet you will find a diversion towards the Pas de Barca. The point of arrival is the wharf of Benifallet.

In order to have the car at the end point of the itinerary, the drivers will bring the car until the parking of the wharf of Benifallet. In this point they will be picked up by a transport of the company Beniemocions, who will take them to the Pas de Barca to meet the rest of persons who will go by canoe to Benifallet.

From March to November. Meeting point: Pas de Barca de Miravet at 10:00.

Lunch tips:

To recuperate strengths you can approach the restaurant Ca Treig, where one of the Manel’s rices will give you a lot of energies. If you prefer to continue enjoying the views, you will find a picnic area with grass (no tables), a source, WC and play ground beside the wharf of Benifallet. And on the way towards the Caves of Benifallet after leaving the T301 (km21), you will find another area of leisure with a table and a source.

Accessibility: even though the waters are calm in this stretch and the possibility to overturn is almost null, it is advisable to know how to swim if you go by canoe. If it’s the first time you use a canoe, we advise you to go in "individual" canoe, since you save the complications of coordination. The children until 10 years, have to use a "double" canoe with an adult, and the minors of 8 years, can use a "triple" and sit in the middle of two adults.
Recommendations: take water with you, use a repellent of insects, bring a towel and cloth with you. In the summer: use suntan lotion, caps, shorts or swimsuit, T-shirt and footwear that can get wet. In the winter "closed" canoes are used. Use long trousers, T-shirt of long sleeve, raincoat and footwear that can get wet. If it is cold you should bring thermal cloth.

Price: minors of 7 years free; between 8 and 13 years: 20€; over 14 years: 25€. For groups from 10 to 19 persons (5€ of discount per person). For groups over 20 persons consult Beniemocions. The price includes rent, insurance, lifebelt and monitor-guide.

If you go in big groups, the company Beniemcions accompanies you from half of the way with an engine boat. In the event of that you bring small children, they can travel by boat if they are accompanied by an adult.

If you prefer shorter routes, you can make the route of the islands of Cataula and Nap, suitable for beginners or families with smaller children. (Duration: between 45 minutes and 2 hours - among 4 and 7 km, depending on the route)

You can complement the route with a visit to the Caves of Benifallet.
