L’Ametlla de Mar, Baix Ebre

About the place:

If you search some beaches that still preserve the rural and natural character of the Mediterranean coast just go to l’Ametlla de Mar. Following the whims of the coast, you will pass through the Gr92 between the beach of L’Estany Podrit and the beach of the Llenya.  An itinerary of panoramic views on fantastic creeks and a promenade between pines and palmetto trees (the only European autochthonous palm tree). From time to time you’ll see some constructions that are totally integrate in the landscape. A good example on how to combine tourism and the preservation of the cost! 

A pleasant walk to enjoy of the Mediterranean in family with a bath as a final reward.

Direction tips:

To arrive to the Beach of L’Estany podrit, you have to enter l'Ametlla de Mar by the TV3025. Follow the indications towards the camping Almetlla. You’ll pass by the Part de la Cala amnd the Ensenyament street. Once you arrive to the camping Almetlla, continue straight on following the train way during 800m. You’ll arrive to an esplanade where you can park the car.

Take the track that you will find in front of you in direction to the beach of the Estany Podrit. In 5 minutes you will arrive to a beach of sand and stone. You will find, the path marked with the white and red GR marks on your left side on a stone. You have to climb to a pine tree through some stairs made in the rock. From this point you have to follow the main path, guided by the white and red marks. First you will pass through some banks of stone. At certain point you will have to cross over the bank of stone where it is a little broken. There you will go down by some stairs. Once you reach the water, you will have to rise again using the stairs that will take you to some house of stone, The Hidalgo blocks that are perfectly integrated in the landscape.  Once you arrive to the Hidalgo constructions, you have to take the path to the right, bordering the houses.  From this point on it is easy to follow the path by the red and white marks on the stones and trees. You’ll arrive to the beach of Llenya in about half an hours And after a good walk, you have deserved a good bath. In spite of not being very large beach, the Llenya beach is very nice.  You can return using the same way, or taking the main road you went by car. Therfore you have to go to the Camping Ametlla passing the chain and go to the main road. In 800m you’ll be back to the parking place.

Lunch tips:

If the walk has awakened you the appetite, you can have an easy meal at the restaurant of Camping Ametlla. You will find a good play zone, a football and basketball playground and even a swimming pool.

Accessibility: it is a route with a few unevenness that borders the coast. There are many stones on the path.
Recommendations: Even though you go to the beach, you have to use very good footwear for walking. There is no sand at the beach only stones.   Watch the children at all times, since there is some stretch where the path is very narrow and the path passes beside a cliff. Protect yourself and the kids of the sun.
