About the place:

If you like short strolls to enjoy the mountain with the kids, do not miss the chance to go up to the hermitage of Sant Marc in the Sierra de Montmell. Following a rocky, narrow trail, accompanied by the scent of rosemary, you will arrive in less than half an hour to the Romanesque hermitage of San Marco (S XIV) placed on a hill. On your arrival, in addition to enjoying of some nice views over the mountains, you should try to follow the map to discover the location of the hermit's house, the porch and look for the Gothic parts of the hermitage.

A short and entertaining itinerary to enjoy nature.

Direction tips:

We suggest you start your journey at Vila-rodona. From Vila-rodona, you should take the road towards Can Ferrer and Aiguaviva (TP2443). It is a narrow road, but with a very attractive landscape of vineyards, almond, woods and mountains. At the height of km 13 you must park the car next to the road (there is place for maximum 2 cars next to the vineyards). At this point there is a track marked with an indicator uphill toward the hermitage of Sant Marc. After passing by a vineyard, you will find the narrow path marked with white and green lines that goes up the hill. About 25 minutes later you will arrive to a crossroad. Take the left path, which is not marked. A few meters further you will see the church of San Marco. To return to your car, you must return the same way you came.

The best season:

winter, autumn, summer, spring

Lunch tips:

Next to the church there is an esplanade with a stone table and improvised bench where you can have a picnic. If you prefer to be more comfortable, enjoy of a good meal at the farmhouse La Moixeta.
