Do you want to discover how the devil’s stairs look like? In spite that big part of the Carlist path from hermitage of the Virgin of the Rock of Mont-roig del Camp to the stairs present a lot of unevenness, at the steps really make a big slope. It’s better to admire them from above. The itinerary full of orifices in the reddish rock created by the erosion it is a real adventure for the children. The most interesting point is the Cave with a hole, where you will enter by one part and get out by an other one.
And before or after this short itinerary, you have to pay a visit to the hermitage of the Virgin of the Rock and especially rise to the chapel of Sant Ramon (whitewashed to serve as guidance to the sailors) from where you will enjoy of some panoramic views panoramic on the Baix Camp.
An itinerary with a good dose of adrenaline for the children and a cultural touch for parents.
Direction tips:
To arrive to the hermitage of the Virgin of the Rock you have to take
the T322 between Mont-roig del Camp and Colldejou. Between km 7 and 8
you will find a diversion towards the hermitage. Take this paved path|
that, pass a fork where you will have to continue straight on. They way
will bring you direct to the peak with the hermitage. You have to park
the car at the square. On one side you will find the wide path that
will bring you to the hermitage and to the chapel of Sant Ramon. To
access the chapel of Sant Ramon, you have to pass through the door that
is under the porch beside the entrance of the hermitage of the Virgin
of the Rock.
On the other side of the square you will find some stairs that rise
towards the Oriel and the path of Arenys. If you follow this way, you
will arrive in 10 minutes to the stairs of the devil. In arriving to
the fork at the height of the oriel, you have to continue straight on
in direction of the Carlist path and the Cova Foradada. You just have
to follow the path until the Cave and then continue for one more minute
until the stairs. You have to return to the start point following the
way you came through.

Opening hours of the Hermitage of the Mare de Déu de la Roca: Closed on Tuesday; July and August: 9:00 – 20:00; rest of the year: 9:00 – 18:00.

Lunch tips:
You will find a picnic area with tables, barbecues, a source and a play area returing to the T322. On arriving to the bifurcation, you have to turn to the left following the GR. In aprox. 1,5 km you will find the area of leisure of the hermitage of Virgin of Peiró. If you prefer to enjoy a restaurant with good gardens, approach the restaurant Maset in Montbrió del Camp.

Accessibility: it is a path with strong rises and stairs. There are certain points where you have to watch the children, since there are ravines.
Recommendations: take water with you and use good footwear to walk on rocks.
